We are just your normal (if there is such a thing) family trying to not only make it through the day, but live each day to the fullest.
I was by no means an athletic child never really playing any sports. When I was in my early 20’s, I spent my share of time in the gym doing step classes, aerobics, and some strength training. Then when I was getting ready to turn 40, I felt the need to do something. I was out of shape after having 3 babies. I told my husband that I wanted to run a 5K. He suggested that maybe before I do that, I should possibly just get off the couch (in a loving way). 40 came and went and nothing happened. Finally, when I was turning 43 I declared it was the year of me. I joined a gym, signed up for a Sprint Triathlon (why start small) and have been going ever since!
Two weeks after running the New York City Marathon, I had my thyroid removed resulting in my Parathyroid Glands not functioning properly. It’s a rare complication and extremely rare condition, but I’m nothing if not complicated. So now I’m working on coming back from being sidelined and all that goes with hypoparathyroidism too.
